Imagine a goat gorging on sesame seeds and button mushrooms, living its dream, surrounded by siblings and parents.
But what if that goat was to suffer the indignity of having shoes thrown at it by its owners, would that be fair? The goat doesn’t have a voice, it merely creates a vocal sound known as ‘mehhh’ to communicate and as a species we humans have yet to provide a billy whisperer.
There is no Dr Doolittle to offer therapy and life coaching to the creature, it suffers in silence as the cruel keeper bashes it with all manner of clod-hoppers, knowing that his acts of brutality will ultimately go unpunished.
Now – what if that goat was a dog? What if that shoe was attached to a foot as it hurtled towards the pooches stomach? Damaging intestines in an outburst of barbaric rage.
By their nature dogs are loyal and cannot comprehend meaningless violence from the owner they’ve become devoted to, but it happens, and there are some damn cruel people on the planet.
That’s where ‘Friends of The Animals’ come in. Based both in the Midlands and on the Isle of Wight, the charity aims to re-home these mistreated pets, taking time to ensure that they find a suitable environment before allowing the new placement to occur.
A cause that relies upon the kindness of strangers, this is a charity that is ideal to donate to for anyone who loves animals and would like to see them treated with love rather than used as a tool for stress relief.
Please get involved and check out their website – whether you wish to donate, adopt or just take a look, any assistance is always appreciated.
