As a young rapscallion stranded on an Island, my time is split between writing, performing spoken word, wrestling alligators and delivering uplifting pep talks to hairdressers before they prune me. I meditate and wash daily when possible.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.17: Bill Burns

After what seems like an eternity, the Creative Minds series returns for a 17th time, this time the fertile mind of Bill Burns is subject to our interrogation.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.16: Tim Callaghan-Martin

Tim Callaghan-Martin is a name familiar to most Isle of Wight folk affiliated with the spoken word and music scenes. Despite having spent several years of his life in his beloved Stoke-on-Trent, he has become an adopted Islander, garnering at least four personal stalkers to date; only a few below the local average.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.14: Samuel Z Jones

Samuel Z Jones is an irrepressible dynamo in late 2015. With a book launch for new fantasy novel, Baron Maruna, set for December 16th (click here for details). The relentless author found a spare half hour to sit with DxK and share his wit and wisdom over a cup of Vegan friendly Chai.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.13: Joan Ellis

We’re already up to number 13 of our Creative Minds series, and this time we hit the jackpot by securing a chat with Joan Ellis, an author/copywriter/poet/philanthropist for whom the term ‘Midas touch’ is woefully inadequate.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.12: Adam Gaterell

I first met Adam Gaterell, aka the artist formerly known as Punk Poet, in the summer of 2013, as he stepped on an Isle of Wight stage to perform with a dozen or so whipper-snappers who he’d helped to mentor.

Since then our paths have crossed with increasing regularity, sharing venue stages and fashion tips on virtually a monthly basis. I’ve grown to respect the man, and he’s grown to tolerate me, so he was an obvious candidate for inquisition.

Interview features two tracks from Pleasurade

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.11: Amber Katie Peck

Rarely can a cover band have been responsible for so swiftly stirring up the Isle of Wight’s serene landscape as Amber Management.

Dom Kureen was privileged to be find a gap in the schedule of their front woman, Amber Katie Peck, and rapidly thrust his Dictaphone into her face – this is the result.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.10: Bobbin Dixon

Bobbin Dixon – possibly the greatest fore and surname to collide since the equally sublime Tyler Durden was seen jiggling Meatloaf’s mammaries in Fight Club 16 years ago.

Not only does Bobbin possess a dandy moniker, he also happens to be the Isle of Wight’s pre-eminent comedy maestro and a south-coast trotting compère to boot.

Interviews with Creative Minds. No.9: Doris Doolally

A select few are able to wax lyrical about dodo plunder and endear themselves to throngs of onlookers in the process; one such exquisite specimen is Doris Doolally – the ninth victim subject of our Creative Minds series.

Those who know her intimately describe her as a festival trekking, Superman sneaker embellished, guitar-wielding poet and teacher. To find out more click —-> HERE <— and give Doris’ Facebook page a like!
